# DecidedIn

> How a completed contest was decided (accuracy audit ENG-10).

How a completed contest was decided (accuracy audit ENG-10). Stored
nullable — `NULL` means "unknown" (a source with no signal, or rows
predating the column) and is treated as regulation by every consumer,
so the column deploys ahead of any backfill. Today only hockey stamps
it (from the source's period counter: 4 = overtime, 5+ = shootout) and only the
hockey standings fold consumes it (an OT/SO loss is an `otl`, worth a
point); the vocabulary deliberately leaves room for other sports
(basketball OT, soccer extra time) without a schema change.

**Kind:** enum · **Type:** `string`

**Values:** `regulation`, `overtime`, `shootout`
